About Us

Our name Verbum-The Word. It is good to see the background of the birth of the word. In Jewish tradition, a word is not merely means sound: for them there is something with it and had an independent existece and which actually did things. This powerful characteristic of Word is greatly seen in the story of Isaac being deceived into blessing Jacob. After he had given the words of blessing nothing he could do to take that words again. The words had gone out and had began to act and nothing could stop it. Likewise we can read in the creation story: "God said... and there was..." this is a manifestation of how strong words are. This gave us an idea that the ordinary word which is in itself not merely a sound but a dynamic thing.

this journey's for you
denver louie cabaluna

Verse 1:
There might be strong winds
In the oceans of life as we sail
Questions might fill us
Look above and you'll understand

Verse 2:
Doubt and confusion might be there
As we know what's within us
We might not see the road that we travel
Look within and you'll know

Refrain:
This is but a part of our journey
As we go on through life
Get moving, keep sailing on

Chorus:
Because He'll just be on the shore waiting
When everyone leaves us behind the sea
For this we offer our lives to you
All for you... This journey's for you.
(Repeat verse 1 until chorus)

Bridge:
And when there's nothing but sunset
When everyone gets upset
And when the waves and crushing inside
He'll be there. He'll just be there.
(Repeat chorus 2x)

blame
alwele pojas

Why am I this kind of person?
This has been my longest question
O, Mighty Author, Reason of Reason
Why am I like this, this kind of person?

I went back looking at my family
The reason is not enough and fled away
O, Highest Ghost shine on me and come
Who's to blame the way I am?

I looked around and there's no one to blame
And every time I seek I fall in shame
O, Jesus Christ I cannot blame my past
But You told me to just live on and so I must

Will You send an answer to my longest quest?
I'll patiently wait that my breath takes rest
Why do I mourn each time I experience bliss?
But reality says it is just that I am like this.

In loving others I have been so kind
But with myself i had been too blind
Yes, there's no one to blame the preson I have
It is just that the person in me I failed to love.

Pagkaanindot sa mga hulagway
Sa palibot sa Tagaytay.
Kami nagpuyo nga haruhay
Sa kasanag sa among panagway.

O Bathala Namo
Kami gitawag Nimo.
Isip binunyagang mga Kristyano
Kanimo sumusunod nga mga Misyonero.

Sa mga kasinatian nagmalaumon
Sa kinabuhing among latason.
Aron ang mga pangandoy pagakab-uton
Sa mga pagsulay nga dili masayon.

Kinabuhi nga gipili
Kami manatili.
Sa pagsugakodsa pagdumili
Sa mga tentasyon kami dili molingi.

Sa kinabuhing kulbahinam
Kami kanunay'ng mangandam.
Aron sa kaugalingon magmalambuon
Sa Misyon magmadaugon.

Sa pagpuyo nga nag-inusara
Sa pagpamalandong haskang nindota.
mabati nimo ang tiunay nga gugma
Sa Dios nga mahigugmaon maoy tamda.

questions
denver louie cabaluna

What would be the life's gist without questions?
And where would all the answer come and go?
Things would be all white like blank slate
No wonder, there will be no words to know
No twilight but dusk and melancholy
A time not to stop nonchalantly
No more hate and love to reckon so much
For lunaticity have come too such
Absurd but makes sense in reality
Like an old man losing his sanity
And the road we travel will never end
For the light have withered and have faded
The moon, star, and the sun will never shine
And ourselves, yes ourselves, we'll never find.

This postulant was sleepy during the modular class on a cold and windy day. To get his attention, the speaker asked him, "What should be the core of one's self to attain human development?" Fortunately, he was able to answer with confidence. "Love should be the core of a person." Buti na lang nakasagot. Katabi pa naman si sister. Wheew!

Class Profile

History can create legends in the phase of time. Every person possesses certain qualities that cannot be replicated by anybody else. Beyond the physical and tangible structure of a man lies a vulnerable spirit that would somehow define the depths of his being. It is not enough to know only the person’s name, place of birth, or family background because prior to his nature, the meaning of his existence is far more important. We, the Verbum Class, are composed of 23 distinct personalities who came from different cultural behaviors, beliefs, customs and way of life. We come together to what they call “a SACRED place,” a place where dreams become reality. We live in the substantiality of aloneness and community living.

He may not have written a book but he reads a lot. If you wonder why Mongol pencil is yellow, he surely knows the answer. That is Narciso Amoro or Kuya Narz as he wants to be called. He is a kind of person who remembers clearly the details of things that have personal meanings for him, such as the shape of one’s toes and the steps of a beautiful lady like “ahem.” Interesting, isn’t it??

Joreen Jeb Balogbog or Bogz is a type of person who loves to walk in the rain so that no one would see him crying. Sounds like Charlie Chaplin! Bogz is a silent, practical, realistic, and specific in the realm of his being. He also focuses on what people need and want, and he would establish orderly procedures to be sure that those needs and wants are fulfilled. He is absolutely tough and emotionally real. How’s that Bogz?

John Lennon may be long dead, but his melody still lives in him. And if harmony and goodwill can interplay through music, so with this young man. He sees life as a creative adventure full of exciting possibilities. He’s known as a warm, friendly, and caring person. It goes beyond reason knowing John Lorence Basio.

He may not have the exact words and thoughts of Henry David Thoreau who was once in the forest but he knows the depth and feeling of it. Hazer Cango is dependable and considerate, committed to the people and groups he is associated with and faithful in carrying out his responsibilities.

If Gary V. is called Mr. Pure Energy, then Gemar Donoso is the Mr. Bendy of SVD postulancy. And if the choreography seems to be complicated, you better ask some “teps” from him. We mean “tips.” He primarily uses his thinking ability to organize his work. This person is likely to be objectively critical, clear and assertive.

Tristan Ferrera is a simple and talented person who can bloom wherever he is planted. His energy and enthusiasm encourage others to bloom as well. If Michael Buffer utilizes his sturdy voice to rock the house, Tristan exercises his intuition to think and act loud.

Is there such thing as an “einjehl” in disguise who loves to sing I Lay my Love on You? Then you got George De Castro. Knowing the profundity of this man will definitely change your concept of generosity. He also values harmony, cooperation, and work to create a semblance of relationship with others.

He would sail within his self just to be the greatest explorer. A sailor in the ocean of life who wants to discover the richness of culture. This chap is also sensitive to the needs of each individual in his environment and good at providing practical caring. He possesses a certain aura that makes him the sweetheart of the class. That’s Norman Labutan.

If you don’t believe that laughter is the best medicine, you should think twice because Roy Lapingcao can surely turn your stomach upside-down like the famous Eddie Murphy. Thus, this individual also works hard with steady energy to complete jobs fully and on time.

Michael Schumacher is maybe the king of the road. But here in Tagaytay, Marlo Macaraig can make a journey on the road less traveled. His decisive and logical qualities enable him to value competence, efficiency, and results in which he displays in work and play.

On the free throw line, perimeter, or three-point line, name it, Zaldy Maslog can certainly shoot the ball. He’s like Paul Pierce of the NBA. With his charming personality, he can easily interact with others which allow him to become an excellent administrator because of his clear understanding of systems and logistics.

If Bruce Lee can knock a person down with his speed and strength, Emmanuel Ordoña, on the other hand, can hammer everyone using his secret power, which is time management. He has a strong sense of responsibility and great loyalty to the organization. When he exercises his thinking, this guy can be very objective and tough-minded.

Some people think that most dancers aren’t good at playing musical instruments. Then Jovaney Osayen, the John Pratts of SVD postulancy, can prove them wrong. Apart from his propensity in the world of music, his organizational skill is also quite remarkable. He is also proficient devising systems, procedures, and schedules.

Life provided Jomar Palma with many options and what is amazing in him along the course of his journey is that he remained faithful to what he believes. He is the Matt Damon (in the movie Good Will Hunting) of the SVD Postulancy - a friend you can always lean on.

Knowing Mahatma Gandhi is like knowing Alwele Pojas, a peaceful man with a great soul. He replenishes his energy through interaction with others and genuinely interested in others’ lives and concerns. Alwele is not only good in making connections to others with his comic story. He can also relate to others through his faith in God.

If there’s someone who could parallel Thomas Jefferson, it would be Louigie Pontillo, for they are both authors of ideas. Louigie’s silence would mean so many things. His ideas are clear and steadfast through the help of logical criteria based on his experience and knowledge. Musically talented, he always believes that music has a special place in man’s soul.

Mark Angelo Ramos or Mackoy, as he is fondly called, is the Tim Yap of the house. The à la mode behind the elegance of things, the eye to what is beautiful, and the tongue to what is lip-smacking. This person loves to organize people and situations and then work with others to complete tasks accurately and on time. If you want a manager and a follower at the same time, Mackoy is the one.

If there’s something that Jules Caesar Sotto would want from Ludwig Van Beethoven, it would be being natural for music. And, if there’s something that this musical genius would want from Jules, it would be the strongest force here on earth and that is love. This guy is very cooperative and tactful at the same time.

By his eyes, there’s nothing but a wonder. By his words, he could make your day happy. And by his smile, completeness. Ganyan kalupet si Francisco Tayaban Jr. or Isko. Isko is a very hardworking person. He completes any tasks entrusted to him without complains and hang-ups. As a matter-of-fact, this person is also systematic and pragmatic.

Ramlec Tiu is neither the brother nor the best friend of Vhong Navarro, but he is like him: funny, funky, and can make all the girls stunned when he starts rocking the floor. Aside from his natural talent in dancing, this man is very conscientious and sincere.

Jemil Viloria is the man who traveled his own realm in search of what he needs, and returns home to find it. His mind seems to work almost like computers in organizing data, reasoning impersonally and objectively. He’s not only analyzing problems because in a hardcourt he’s also the slasher.

He will not open his eyes in the sunrise to see the beauty of the day but he would in the sunset to comprehend how it came to be. This guy is keenly aware of the intricate connections within organizations and strategic. He thinks ahead, anticipate problems, devise broad plans and systems, and marshal human and material resources to achieve goals. That is Ron Christopher Barcelona.

If roses are red and violets are blue, then Denver Louie Cabaluna is the color in between. The poetic-composer-tearjerker-serious joker person, Denver is the William Shakespeare of our batch. Shakespeare’s doggerel can encapsulate the magnificence of the universe. However, Denver’s sonnets can capture the beauty bound by time and space. If you want to capture the heart of the cosmos, better approach this person.
